Balanced Choices: Identifying the major food groups and 6 essential nutrients and their major functions

What's Important about Food Labels: identify what can be found on a food label, why it is important for certain groups to read food labels

The Importance of Water; Understanding the various basic functions and role of water in our bodies

Understanding Physical Activity: Gaining an understanding of what is physical activity? What counts as PA?

Plate Building: Build a balanced plate using visual aids and information from the Myplate website.

Label Reading: Looking at the information on the food labels and determining the importance of what is listed for their personal goals

Goal Setting: create a movement goal that is realistic for their abilities and interests

Energy Balance: demonstrate with visuals calorie deficit, balance and overload and what those outcomes are on weight

Create a My Plate: Students wil create a balanced my plate for each meal of the day with foods they eat and enjoy

 

Heart rate activity: students will learn to take resting heart rate and then perform a series of activities and retake heart rate.  They will reflect on the effects of various types of exercise on calorie output

 

Grocery sort: Create visuals of food that are always foods and those that are someitmes foods

Using a diagram of the water students will indicate on the body the positive effecs water has for the body
