Lesson Objective
SWBAT identify the 6 essential Nutrients and their overall functions for the body.
SWBAT identify foods where each of the nutrients can be found.
SWBAT analyze the connection between the food groups and the 6 essential nutrients.
What are nutrients and why are they important?
What foods can I find the nutrients in?
How are the food groups and the nutrients related?
H.2.3 Evaluate factors that may influence the personal selection of health products and services.
Purpose: to understand the importance and function of the essential nutrients and analyze their connection to the food groups. Students will understand the great importance that water has on our body functions

Students will complete a chart for the 6 nutrients identifying their functions and foods they can be found in.
Students will sort various food cards to the proper nutrient category
Students will work on groups to determine the connection between the nutrients and the food groups.
Students will be given an outline of the human body and will explore and label on the body the various benefits that water has on the different systems of the body.
