Unit 4: CONNECT: Relating artistic ideas and work with personal meaning and external context
Duration of Days: 180
Students will understand that music reflects personal experiences, cultural traditions, historical events, societal values, and artistic perspectives. They will understand how composers, performers, and audiences create meaning through music and how contextual understanding influences interpretation, performance practice, and artistic decision-making.
Students will analyze and apply connections between music, culture, history, personal experience, and other disciplines. Students will use contextual understanding to shape interpretation, justify performance decisions, evaluate artistic effectiveness, and contribute to student-led discussions and rehearsal processes.
Students demonstrate learning through reflection, discussion, contextual analysis, score study, rehearsal application, performance decisions, peer critique, and evidence-based evaluation of musical works and performances.
