Unit 1: Introduction to the Guitar

Students will understand the basic parts and functions of the guitar, proper playing posture, tuning procedures, rhythmic notation, and foundational chord shapes. Students will understand how basic guitar skills support musical independence and performance.

Students will identify guitar parts, demonstrate proper playing position, tune the guitar, read chord diagrams, perform basic rhythms and chord progressions, and develop beginning performance skills.

Students demonstrate learning through playing tests, rhythm exercises, chord performance checks, classroom performance activities, and a Famous Guitarist presentation project.
