Unit 9: Future Planning

Students will know how to apply their acquired media literacy and discussion skills to their future lives as adult citizens. Students will understand how to navigate the global-socio-political climate independently after turning 18. Students will know how to regularly track major currents of U.S. and world events to remain informed voters.

Students will reflect upon their personal growth in civic engagement, discussion, and argumentative writing. Students will map out future strategies to safely and effectively exercise their political voice in the public sphere. Students will finalize digital portals, blogs, or portfolios showcasing their mastery of current events.

• Students will demonstrate learning by compiling their final course reflections and self-evaluating their civic growth.

• Students will present their finalized perspective on a contemporary issue through an interactive peer discussion forum.

• Learning is measured qualitatively through senior student feedback surveys.
