Lesson Objective

Students will deconstruct the requirements of the "Taking Informed Action" capstone project and brainstorm potential civic topics.

What local issue matters enough to me to take action? What makes a civic service project impactful and sustainable?

CT Civics/Gov (Dimension 4 - INQ 9–12.14); MBL Standards 6A-D.

Lesson Procedure: 1. Presentation: Review Capstone expectations, rubrics, and project timelines.
2. Brainstorming: Students circle around the room engaging in a "silent graffiti" poster walk to write down community problems.
3. Reflection: Students pick their top three areas of interest.

Purpose & DOK Level: Launch the continuous mastery-based capstone project; DOK Level 4 (Extended Thinking).

Provide a list of pre-approved local organizations for inspiration; allow multi-modal project planning (written, digital, or audio).
