Lesson Objective
Students will evaluate different news articles covering the same current event to spot corporate, political, or social bias.
How does news framing shape public perception? How do we identify bias in digital journalism?

1. Hook: Show two radically different headlines about the same event.
2. Direct Instruction: Introduce the Media Bias Chart and common indicators of bias (loaded language, omission, placement).
3. Guided Practice: Read a short editorial together, labeling biased statements.
4. Independent Work: Students analyze a provided article using a media-literacy checklist.
Purpose & DOK Level: Develop core media literacy skills; DOK Level 3 (Strategic Thinking).
Provide highlighted articles for struggling readers; offer advanced students articles from international sources.
Analysis worksheet mapping out the identified biases in the chosen text.
