Unit 2: Tonal Drawing

Essential Understandings:

Students will know that value can be depicted in a range of tones from dark to light.
Students will know that gradation creates the illusion of three dimensional form on a two dimensional surface.
Students will know what techniques can you use to make an object look three dimensional on a two dimensional surface.
Students will know how you can describe value in a tonal drawing.
Students will know how reflected light can be described in a tonal drawing.

Skills:
Students will create a value scale using different media from light to dark.
Students will create a smooth gradation of value in their work.
Students will depict a range of values in a tonal drawing.
Knowledge:
Students will know how to use value to depict an object as three dimensional on a two dimensional surface.
Students will know how to create a smooth gradation of value using a variety of media.

Performance Task:

Individual project evaluation based on project objectives.
