Unit 2: Building Chord Vocabulary

Students will understand how expanding chord vocabulary increases musical flexibility and supports performance of a wider variety of songs. Students will understand how rhythm patterns, chord relationships, and practice strategies improve fluency and confidence on the guitar.

Students will learn and perform new chord shapes, apply more advanced strumming patterns, improve chord transitions, and create original chord progressions. Students will also design and present a music festival project connecting music, performance, and artistic identity.

Students demonstrate learning through chord quizzes, playing tests, rhythm exercises, chord progression performances, and a music festival presentation project.
