After reading and discussing a model, students will be able to make inferences in order to improve reading comprehension.

Checklist for Making Inferences:

To make inferences and use evidence to support understanding, do the following:
- Note details in which the author gives clues but doesn’t say clearly what’s going on.
- Apply prior knowledge to the detail.
- Combine clues from the text with prior knowledge to make an inference.
- Use text evidence to support your inference and confirm that it’s relevant.
