After reading and discussing a model, students will be able create mental images in order to improve reading comprehension.

Checklist for Visualizing:

In order to identify information that you can use to visualize a story you are reading, note the following:
- descriptions of characters
- descriptions of settings
- descriptions of events
- sensory details

Visualize in order to deepen your understanding of the text, using the following questions as a guide:
- Am I having trouble following the story? Would it help if I tried to visualize the characters, settings, and events?
- How do the descriptions and sensory details help me to visualize the story?
- How does my understanding of a detail in the text change after visualizing it?
