Unit 1: COURSE DESCRIPTION

Choir 7 is a class for students who enjoy singing and want to continue building on singing skills learned in 6th Grade Chorus.

Students will reinforce the basics of choral singing concepts started in 6th Grade such as correct posture, breathing, tone, and pitch. They will practice singing together as a group and reinforce music reading skills and following a choral part. Students will sing a variety of songs from different styles and cultures while working on rhythm, harmony, and musical expression.

Students will demonstrate their learning through active participation in class lessons where they practice singing, follow their vocal parts, and apply proper vocal techniques such as posture, breathing, and pitch accuracy. Students may also complete simple vocal or music-reading activities to show their understanding of basic musical concepts like rhythm, melody, and dynamics. Students will demonstrate their learning through performances at school concerts and community events.
