Students will be able to analyze how the plot shapes elements of the story

In order to identify particular elements of a story or drama, note the following:
* setting details
* character details, including their thoughts, actions, and descriptions
* notable incidents or events in the plot
* characters or setting details that may have caused an event to occur
* the central conflict and the characters who are involved
* dialogue between or among characters
* instances when setting interferes with a character’s motivations

To analyze how particular elements of a story or drama interact, consider the following questions:
* How do the events of the plot unfold in the story?
* How do characters respond or change as the plot advances?
* How does the setting shape the characters or the plot?
* How does the plot or story structure contribute to the theme of the story?
* How does a particular scene in the story contribute to development of the plot?
