Students practice playing simple rhythmic patterns together as a group. The focus is on listening, maintaining steady tempo, and aligning rhythms with the ensemble.

Students may speed up or slow down while playing.

Students may focus only on their own part instead of listening to the group.

Begin with clapping rhythms before playing instruments.

Use a metronome or teacher counting to support steady tempo.

  • Teacher observation of students maintaining steady tempo.

  • Students perform a short rhythm exercise together successfully.
