Unit 1: Course Description

High Strings is a class within the 6th grade orchestra program designed for students who play violin or viola. The curriculum focuses on building fundamental string playing skills while developing musicianship and ensemble performance abilities.

Students will learn proper and specified; instrument care, posture, bowing technique, left-hand finger placement, and basic music reading skills including notes, rhythms, and key signatures.

Emphasis is placed on building strong practice habits, basic musicianship, and confidence through focused instruction and performance activities.
