Lesson Objective

Students will participate in a full-length "Master Class" and identify the psychological benefits of group fitness.

How can Step Aerobics be incorporated into a healthy lifestyle?

Cool Down
Endorphins
Perceived Exertion (RPE)

Standard 4: Develops personal and social skills (self-expression and enjoyment).

(DOK 4) Based on the movements learned this week, design a 64-count routine (two blocks) that transitions from low-impact to high-impact. Explain your choice of transitions.

In real life, the ability to navigate stairs, recover from a trip or stumble, and maintain balance on uneven surfaces all rely on the same "foot-eye" coordination developed on the platform. Furthermore, the rhythmic nature of the class teaches students how to use music as a tool for pacing and mental motivation during physical exertion.

I may have to wear a leotard and leg warmers.

Have different levels of challenge for students.
Allow students to choose their challenge levels

Students will explain RPE and how it can be used during exercise.
