Description: Building on the balance scale concept, students extend their understanding to multiplication and division. Using manipulatives (equal groups of objects), students represent equations like 3x = 12 and solve by dividing both sides into equal groups. Purpose: To expand students' toolkit for solving equations to include multiplicative inverse operations. DOK Level: 2-3 (Application and Strategic Thinking)
