Students will be able to analyze the author’s point of view and purpose in writing this open letter.

- How does the author convey, or communicate, information in the text?
- Does the author use figurative or emotional language? What effect does it have on the author’s point of view?
- Are charts, graphs, maps and other graphic aids included in the text? For what purpose?
-How does the author use rhetoric to try to persuade readers to accept a specific point of view or opinion? Is the use of rhetoric successful? Why or why not?
