Unit 2: Professional Correspondence and Outreach
Duration of Days: 30
- The anatomy of a professional email (Subject line, Greeting, Body, Closing, Signature).
- The "Netiquette" of professional vs. casual language (no slang or emojis in work emails).
- The purpose of a cover letter: connecting your resume to a specific job description.
- Create a Professional Email Signature: Setting up an automated block with their name and phone number.
- The Draft and Send Series: Practice writing emails for three scenarios: asking for an application, following up after an interview, and requesting a letter of recommendation.
- Cover Letter Mad-Libs: Use a scaffolded frame to write a 3-paragraph cover letter.
Students must "apply" for a mock position by emailing their resume and cover letter to the teacher, following all professional formatting and email etiquette rules.
