Unit 3: Informational Texts

Students will know that informational texts are written for a variety of purposes including to inform, convince, and persuade.
Students will read informational texts by authors of diverse backgrounds to understand how writers make choices based on the rhetorical situation: Speaker, subject, occasion, audience, purpose and exigency.
Students will be able to identify, summarize and analyze informational texts to understand and evaluate their purposes and authorial point of view and motive. Students will be able to compose brief informational texts for different purposes.
