Unit 11: Safety/Emergency Procedures

Students will be able to know:
Identify safety practices to prevent accidents
List safety measures as with choking and seizures
Understand causes, prevention and action in fires
Demonstrate good body mechanics
Demonstrate lifting and transferring procedures
Understand restraint usage.

Students will engage in:
fire safety course at long term care facility
review and demo back first aid measures in emergency
review and demo back good body mechanics techniques through the course.
Students will utilize these skills at clinical rotations under supervision of RN.
