Unit 4: Legal and Ethical Principles

Students will be able to:
*identify terms relating to legal and ethical principles;
negligence, malpractice, slander, defamation, libel
*relate to scenarios in the healthcare world
*understand the importance of HIPAA (confidentiality)
*Recognize the importance of the Patient Bill of Rights

Students will engage in vocabulary exercises .
Students will apply these to everyday situations in the healthcare world (case studies)

Case studies shared and discussed including legal/ethical and HIPAA situations
