Students will be able-
*identify terms related to safety practices and medical asepsis-clean, disinfect, sterilize.autoclave,nosocomial infection, isolation
*describe methods of Standard and Transmission Based Isolation Precautions and illustrate their uses with disease (Infection Control)
*understand and illustrate the infection process
*recognize the importance of handwashing and the proper technique
*use of personal protective equipment
*identify the functions of OSHA and OBRA
*basic First Aid Measures
*recognize and connect the proper use of Body Mechanics
*understand Fire Safety Measures-RACE and PASS and its ongoing importance
*learn to identify and report hazards (SDS-Safety Data Sheets)
*Learn and illustrate Fire Safety measures in the healthcare force
Students will engage in groupwork activities on the infectious process tied in with Isolation Procedures (MBL on problem solving or critical thinking)
Students will engage in lab activities with teacher demonstrating proper body mechanics uses in ambulation, moving and lifting patients.
Students will collaborate on first aid projects-topic given to a group and exploration of descriptions and treatments.
Summative Assessments off lectures, blood borne pathogen movie, and vocabulary
Group work activities on the infectious process tied in with Isolation measures
Don and Doff PPE-Demo and Demo Back
Group Work on First Aid topic given-explore in detail and treatments-some examples Burns, Fractures, Wounds, Seizures, and Poisoning
