Lesson Objective

Students will apply glue to a wooden dowel and slide their three flower pieces (Flower, Stem, and Base) onto it in the correct order to create a standing 3D sculpture.

Which piece goes on the bottom so the flower doesn't fall over? (The Base)
Which piece goes in the middle? (The Stem)
How do we make the "wooden stick" (dowel) stay inside the holes? (Glue)

Standard 4: Identify and demonstrate the correct use of fastening and bonding methods (Adhesives/Dowel joinery).
Standard 6: Demonstrate the ability to assemble a multi-part project.
Standard 10: Follow safety and clean-up procedures for assembly areas.

Description: Students will perform a "Dry Fit" (stacking without glue) to ensure their holes line up. Then, they will dip the end of the dowel in glue and thread it through the Flower, the Stem, and finally into the Base.
Purpose: To practice sequencing, spatial awareness, and fine motor precision.
DOK Level: 2 (Skill/Concept): Students must organize the parts in a specific order and manage the "wet" glue phase before it sets.

Our classroom utilizes a collaborative instructional model to ensure all students access the curriculum at their individual challenge level. By partnering with paraeducators, we provide targeted small-group interventions, scaffolded independent practice, and real-time adjustments to lessons. This multi-tiered approach allows for high-frequency feedback and ensures that accommodations are integrated naturally into the daily flow of learning.
