Drilling Basics: Why we need a "pathway" (hole) for the dowel to travel through.
Friction Fit: Understanding how a dowel holds pieces together by being the exact same size as the hole.

Smooth the Surface: Sand the 3 precut pieces (Base, Leaves, Flower) until they are soft to the touch.
Drill the Core: Use a drill press (with assistance) to create a hole through the center of the leaves. Then drill part way into the base and the flower.
Test the Fit: Slide the wooden dowel through the holes to ensure all pieces line up and the flower stands straight.
Permanent Bond: Apply glue to the dowel and slide the pieces into their final positions.

The "Stand Test": The finished flower must be able to stand on the table without wobbling or leaning.

Hole Alignment Check: Students must demonstrate they can slide the dowel through all three pieces at once.
