Lesson Objective

Students will apply wood glue to the four frog pieces (Body, Head, and 2 Leg sets) and use clamps to hold them together until the glue dries, creating a sturdy finished project.

Where does the glue go? (On the "flat" parts that touch.)
How much glue do we need? (A "thin line" or a "big glob"?)
Why do we use a clamp? (To "hug" the wood while it sleeps/dries.)

Standard 4: Identify and demonstrate the correct use of fastening and bonding methods (gluing).
Standard 6: Demonstrate the ability to use hand tools (clamps) for assembly.
Standard 10: Follow safety procedures for using adhesives and pressure tools.

Description: Students will apply a small amount of wood glue to the joints, press them together, and attach a clamp to hold the Head to the Body and the Legs to the Body.
Purpose: To learn how separate parts become one object and to practice using mechanical tools (clamps).
DOK Level: 2 (Skill/Concept): Students must coordinate multiple parts at once and decide how much pressure is "just right" for the clamp.

Our classroom utilizes a collaborative instructional model to ensure all students access the curriculum at their individual challenge level. By partnering with paraeducators, we provide targeted small-group interventions, scaffolded independent practice, and real-time adjustments to lessons. This multi-tiered approach allows for high-frequency feedback and ensures that accommodations are integrated naturally into the daily flow of learning.
