Unit 9: Checker Board Project

Technical Skills:
Woodworking Techniques: Students will learn how to use various woodworking tools and techniques, such as sawing, drilling, sanding, and gluing.
Measurement and Precision: They will develop skills in measuring and cutting wood accurately to ensure the checkerboard squares are even and the board is level.
Finishing Techniques: Students will learn about different finishing options (e.g., staining, painting) and how to apply them effectively to protect and enhance the appearance of the checkerboard.

Create a checkerboard with a boarder and working drawer.

Students will create the pattern for the checkerboard along with accurately measuring for their mitered boarder.  They will also create a working drawer under their board.
