Lesson 2: Interior Data (Plates 1-11 through 1-14)
Duration of Days: 3
Lesson Objective
Students will identify and represent internal geometry using correct hidden line and center line symbology in a multi-view layout.
How do we differentiate between a hole that goes "all the way through" versus a "blind hole"?
Where do center marks belong in an orthographic view compared to an isometric view?
Through Hole, Blind Hole, Hidden Line, Center Mark, Precedence of Lines.
CT CTE.AR-D.1.1: Identify and use proper line types (Hidden/Center) according to ANSI standards.
Working through Plates 1-11 to 1-14, students encounter parts with internal slots and drilled holes. They must switch between the "Object" and "Hidden" layers in AutoCAD frequently.
Purpose: To master the "Alphabet of Lines" in a complex digital environment.
DOK Level: 3.
Use the "Transparency" setting on layers to let students "see through" the part in CAD to verify hidden line placement.
Grade based on the "Line Type Scale" —ensure dashes in hidden lines are visible and appropriately sized.
