Lesson 7: The Isometric Ellipse (Plate 3-1.2)
Duration of Days: 2
Lesson Objective
Students will use the ELLIPSE > ISOCIRCLE command to draw circular features in isometric views.
Why does a standard "Circle" command not work in isometric view?
How do we ensure the ellipse is oriented to the correct "face" (Top, Left, or Right)?
Isocircle, Axis, Center Point, F5 Toggle.
CT CADD.04.04: Apply geometric construction techniques to pictorial drawings.
Students work on Plate 1-2 from the 3D book. They will practice drawing vertical and horizontal ellipses to represent holes in a block.
Purpose: To accurately represent circular features in a 3D pictorial.
DOK Level: 3.
Provide a "Plane Map" that shows which F5 toggle corresponds to which face of the object.
Plate 1-2 check: verifying the ellipses are correctly aligned to the isometric axes.
