Lesson Objective

Students will configure AutoCAD for 2D Isometric drafting by toggling ISOPLANE settings and SNAPSTYLE

How does the cursor change when we switch to Isometric mode?

Can we use the ORTHO (F8) tool in an isometric plane?

ISOPLANE (Top/Left/Right), F5 Toggle, Isocycle, 2.5D.

CT CADD.04.04: Create 2D isometric drawings using isocircles and isoplanes.

Students transition to the 3-Dimensional & 3-View Drawings (Plate 1-1). They will learn to use F5 to rotate the cursor through the three planes and begin drawing the "isometric box" using standard line tools.

Purpose: To move from flat 2D drafting to 3D representation without using 3D modeling.

DOK Level: 2.

Use color-coded layers for each plane (e.g., all lines on the "Top" plane are Green) to help with visual spatial orientation.

Completion of a 2D Isometric Cube with three distinct faces (Top, Left, Right).
