Lesson Objective

Students will apply the Tangent snap and TTR methods to complete a complex mechanical cam or linkage.

How does the "Tangent" property change as you move the end of a line?

Can you identify where a line ends and a curve begins on a professional print?

Cam, Linkage, Point of Tangency.

CT CTE.AR-D.2.1: Demonstrate the use of radii and geometric construction.

Students complete Plate 2-3. This is a high-complexity plate requiring multiple tangent lines and TTR arcs.

Purpose: This serves as the "capstone" for the Tangency sub-unit.

DOK Level: 3.

Provide a "Geometry Map" highlighting exactly which points on the print require a "Tangent" snap vs. an "Endpoint" snap.

Evaluation of Plate 2-3 focusing on the "Smoothness" of transitions between lines and arcs.
