Lesson Objective

Students will create arcs that are tangent to two existing circles using the CIRCLE (TTR) command.

How do you draw a curve that "cradles" two other circles?

Why is the radius size critical to the success of a TTR circle?

TTR (Tan, Tan, Radius), Convex, Concave, Circumference.

CT CADD.05.03: Use drawing commands to create geometric shapes.

Students work on Plate 2-2. They will use the CIRCLE dropdown menu to select TAN, TAN, RADIUS. This is used to create "fillet-like" curves between objects that are not connected at a 90-degree angle.

Purpose: To solve complex geometric intersections that standard fillets cannot.

DOK Level: 3.

Provide a compass and paper for a 5-minute manual "Tangent" sketch to help students visualize the geometry before doing it in CAD.

Completion of Plate 2-2 with all TTR arcs correctly trimmed.
