Lesson 5: Designing Assemblies & Part Connections
Duration of Days: 2
Lesson Objective
Students will create separate geometric components and use snap tools to connect them with 100% precision.
How do we ensure two separate parts "fit" together digitally?
Why is the "Node" or "Point" snap important when connecting complex shapes?
Assembly, Mating, Precision, Snap-to-Point.
CT CADD.05.02: Use coordinate systems and snap settings.
CT CADD.03.03: Demonstrate the ability to draw views from a print.
Students tackle Plate 1-4. They will draw two distinct mechanical components as shown in the book and move them to "mate" together, ensuring no gaps or overlaps.
Purpose: Intro to the concept of assembly drafting.
DOK Level: 3.
Provide a "Tolerance Guide" to show what a "perfect fit" looks like zoomed in at 1000%.
