Lesson Objective

Students will apply the Chamfer tool and Circle tool to recreate Plate 1-2.

What is the difference between a "distance" chamfer and an "angle" chamfer?

How does the Offset tool help locate the center of a circle on a plate?

Chamfer, Radius vs. Diameter, Offset, Intersection Snap.

CT CADD.06.02: Perform advanced editing (Chamfer/Fillet).

CT CADD.05.03: Use drawing commands to create geometric shapes.

Students work on Plate 1-2. They will use OFFSET to find hole centers and the CHAMFER command to bevel edges. They will practice switching between the "Distance" and "Angle" options in the Chamfer command.

Purpose: To learn how to handle angled transitions in mechanical parts.

DOK Level: 2.

Use color-coded construction lines to show the "offset" paths before they are trimmed.

Peer-review check: Students swap desks and verify their partner's chamfer distances against the book.
