Lesson Objective
Students will edit existing geometry using Trim, Extend, Offset, and Mirror to increase drafting speed.
Why draw the same thing twice if you can Mirror it?
How does the Offset tool create perfect "wall thickness" in a split second?
Trim, Extend, Mirror, Offset, Fillet, Chamfer.
CT CADD.06.01: Demonstrate the use of editing and modify commands.
Students are given a "Messy Drawing" and must use the Trim and Extend tools to clean it up. They will then use Offset to create a floor plan outline.
Purpose: To show the efficiency of CAD over manual drafting.
DOK Level: 2 (Application).
Provide a "Before and After" visual guide for each modify tool.
"The Mirror Challenge"—students draw exactly half of a complex symmetrical object and use the Mirror command to complete it.
Practice DWG files with "broken" geometry to fix.
