Lesson Objective

Students will demonstrate proficiency using the Circle, Polyline, and Rectangle tools to create complex 2D geometry.

When is a Polyline better than a standard Line?

How do "Object Snaps" (OSNAP) replace the manual compass and straightedge?

Polyline, Tangent, Endpoint, Midpoint, OSNAP, Ortho Mode.

CT CADD.05.03: Use drawing commands to create geometric shapes.

Students learn to use Object Snaps to connect lines perfectly. They will create a "Mechanical Plate" featuring circles tangent to lines and centered holes.

Purpose: To build the "Draw" vocabulary necessary for technical parts.

DOK Level: 2 (Application).

Allow students to use the "Icon" method if they struggle with typing commands, but encourage command aliases for speed.

A drawing of a "Gasket" with four holes and rounded corners.
