Lesson 2: Precision Input
Duration of Days: 2.5
Lesson Objective
Students will use Absolute and Relative coordinates to draw geometric shapes with 100% mathematical precision.
How does the computer know exactly where to start a line?
What is the difference between X,Y and distance < angle?
Origin, Absolute Coordinates, Relative Coordinates, Polar Tracking.
CT CADD.05.02: Use coordinate systems (Absolute, Relative, Polar).
Students will draw a "Coordinate Castle" by typing in specific coordinates rather than clicking randomly. This reinforces the math learned in Unit 4.
Purpose: To move away from "sketching" and toward "engineering" with exact data.
DOK Level: 2 (Skill/Concept).
Use "Snap to Grid" settings for students struggling with coordinate logic to provide visual anchors.
Successful completion of a "Coordinate Challenge" shape where the final point must return to O.
Coordinate geometry worksheets.
