Lesson Objective
Students will identify the major components of the AutoCAD UI and use the Command Line to initiate basic functions
Why is the Command Line considered the "brain" of AutoCAD?
How does the Ribbon organize tools compared to the manual drafting table?
Ribbon, Command Line, Crosshairs, Status Bar, Model Space, Paper Space.
CT CADD.05.01: Identify the components of the CADD software interface.
Students explore the UI. They will practice "Dynamic Input" and learn that every action can be typed. They will perform basic navigation (Zoom/Pan) using the mouse wheel.
Purpose: To reduce "software anxiety" by mastering navigation first.
DOK Level: 1 (Recall).
Provide a "Quick Key" cheat sheet (e.g., L = Line, C = Circle) for students to keep at their workstations.
A "UI Scavenger Hunt" where students must locate and click 10 specific interface elements.
