Lesson Objective

Students will synthesize measurement and scaling skills to create a 1:1 or 1:2 technical drawing of a classroom object.

How do you determine the best scale to fit an object on an 11x17 sheet?

How do we communicate the scale to the person reading the drawing?

Scale Factor, Actual Size, Paper Size, Dimensional Integrity.

CT CADD.02.02: Demonstrate the use of various scales to measure and/or draw.

Students select a classroom object (e.g., a stapler, a remote, or a phone). They must measure it precisely and create a perfectly scaled hand-drawing on a bordered sheet with a title block.

Purpose: To demonstrate mastery of the entire unit's concepts in a single professional document.

DOK Level: 4 (Extended Thinking).

Students may choose simpler objects (a rectangular box) or complex ones (a multi-featured tool) based on their comfort level.

Scale Accuracy Lab Rubric. Grading is based on measurement precision, scaling math, and line quality.

Graph paper, drafting tools, calipers, classroom objects.
