Lesson Objective

Students will explain the "Glass Box" concept to identify the six standard views of an object.

How can we represent a 3D world on a 2D piece of paper without losing information?

Why is the "Front View" considered the most important?

Plane of Projection, Glass Box, Orthographic, Principal View.

CT CADD.03.01: Identify the six standard views of an object.

Students "unfold" a physical clear plastic box containing a 3D wooden block to see how views project onto surfaces.

Purpose: To visualize the transition from 3D reality to 2D representation.

DOK Level: 2.

Use physical 3D blocks (Legos or wooden cubes) that students can hold and rotate.

Sketching the 3 primary views (Top, Front, Right Side) of a simple "L-block."

Materials / Resources: Clear "Glass Box" demo kit, wooden geometric solids.
