Unit 4: Intermediate Editing Techniques

The students will know the core editing tools in Adobe Premiere,.
How to apply transitions and pacing in editing.
How to adjust audio levels and cleanup background noise.

Core Tools: Mastering the toolbar, including the Ripple Edit, Rolling Edit, and Slip tools.
Transitions & Pacing: Applying video transitions and adjusting clip timing (speed changes, slow motion, and freeze-frames).
Audio Engineering: Syncing audio/video, adjusting volume levels, and cleaning background noise using Essential Sound.
Titling & Graphics: Creating animated titles, lower-thirds, and "logo bugs".

1. Sync & Clean: Import an interview clip, tag it as Dialogue, and use Repair to clean the audio.
2. The Tighten-Up: Use the Ripple Edit tool to remove "umms" and "ahhs" without leaving black gaps.
3. Visual Polish: Add one Slow Motion B-roll clip of the subject working.
4. Identify: Add a Lower-Third graphic with the subject’s name and title.
5. The Mix: Add background music and use Ducking so the voice is always clear.
