Students present their Mini Lab findings and take the "Logo Quiz."
Purpose: To broaden students' perspective of manufacturing beyond "factory work" by exposing them to diverse fields like biotechnology, electronics, and aerospace.
DOK Level:
Level 2 (Basic Application): Defining the 14 subindustries.
Level 3 (Strategic Thinking): Investigating a specific subindustry and drawing conclusions about job availability and company structures.
For Scaffolding: Provide a "slide template" for the 14-subindustry PowerPoint
Formative (Gamified): Subindustry Logo Quiz – Display logos of famous companies (e.g., Boeing, Coca-Cola) and have students identify the correct manufacturing subindustry.
Summative 1: 14-Slide Reference Deck – Graded for completeness (all 14 defined) and accuracy.
Summative 2: Mini Lab Presentation – Graded on research quality (3 real companies identified) and career analysis (accurate job descriptions).
