Lesson Objective
Students will identify key theorists in early childhood education and their contributions to the field.
What do you think makes a great teacher?
Jean Piaget: Known for his stages of cognitive development and the importance of play in learning.
Lev Vygotsky: Emphasized social interaction and cultural context in cognitive development, introducing the concept of the Zone of Proximal Development (ZPD).
Maria Montessori: Advocated for child-centered education and hands-on learning, promoting independence in children.
Erik Erikson: Developed a theory of psychosocial development, outlining eight stages that individuals go through from infancy to adulthood.
Howard Gardner: Introduced the theory of multiple intelligences, suggesting that children learn in different ways.
