Lesson Objective

Students will be able to form and use the future tense to tell people what they are going to do and make predictions about the world.
Students will use the Subjunctive in Adverbial Clauses (conjunctions of time and purpose like para que, antes de que, tan pronto como) to describe the circumstances under which they will engage with the media.
Students will use the Conditional tense to talk about what they would do in hypothetical situations related to technology and communication.

How does changing a verb from the present to the future change the "weight" of your opinions about the media?
Why is the Subjunctive necessary when talking about future plans that haven't happened yet (e.g., cuando yo tenga tiempo...)?
How can you use the Subjunctive to set conditions for your future success (e.g., "I will graduate provided that I study")?

WL.1A - 1A. Ask and respond in writing and/or speaking to questions about familiar topics based on their own lives and interests.

Description
The structures in Unit 3 provide the "logic" for planning and hypotheticals. While the Future Tense is used for certainty and predictions about television and movies, the Subjunctive in Adverbial Clauses (often taught via the acronyms ESCAPA or THE CD) allows students to express complex relationships between actions (e.g., "I will watch the movie as soon as it premieres").

Purpose
The purpose of this section is to move students beyond simple descriptions into strategic planning. It aims to:
Equip students with the tools to tell people what they are going to do in their future professional lives.
Enable critical discussion on the "when" and "why" of media consumption through dependent clauses.

DOK 1: Recall Conjugate regular and irregular verbs in the Future and Conditional tenses.
DOK 2: Skill/Concept Complete sentences using the correct mood (Indicative vs. Subjunctive) after conjunctions of time like cuando or después de que.
DOK 3: Strategic Thinking Create a "Tech-Forecast" where students predict how media and movies will change by the year 2050, justifying their predictions with evidence.
DOK 4: Extended Thinking Develop a campaign for a political candidate in the Caribbean, using future and conditional structures to outline what they will do and what would happen if they win.

The "Irregular" Anchor Chart: Provide a visual reference for the 12 common irregular future/conditional stems (e.g., tendr-, podr-, quier-).
Formulaic Frames: Give students "The CD" frames: [Future Tense] + [Conjunction] + [Subjunctive].
Example: "Comeré (Future) + cuando + llegue (Subjunctive) mi mamá."
