Students will be required to participate in a variety of activities, which include:
Spoken Interpersonal Communication (dialogues/impromptu conversations)
Written Interpersonal Communication (letters, emails, dialogues, creative writing)
Audio, Visual, and Audiovisual Interpretive Communication (Edmodo, Youtube etc)
Written and Print Interpretive Communication (impromptu writing assignments, reading assignments)
Spoken presentational Communication (projects/presentations -research related or as an expression of knowledge acquired with a focus on cultural comparison)
Written Presentational Communication (formal writing-essays)
Interpersonal, interpretive, and presentational communication (dialogues, presentations, short answer questions, email reponses)
Read and analyze authentic literature (short stories and poems), current topics (newspapers, magazines), and other written communications such as letters, emails, and graphs
Interpret a variety of spoken and written authentic materials in aural and written form
Listen to narratives and dialogues to make comparisons, connections, and predictions as well as interpret linguistic cues
Use a variety of materials and methods such as reading, investigation, and listening on a variety of topics and settings to develop a wide range of vocabulary that they can then apply to their own speaking and writing
Formal persuasive essays on a topic based on the thematic units
Interpretive writing assignment which includes but is not limited to reacting to a current event or graphic based the content themes, writing dialogues, summarizing readings using appropriate language, and writing emails responses
Cultural readings as well as current events and personal experiences will be integrated, expressed, and interpreted throughout the course as they relate to the authentic written, audio, and video materials as well as the thematic units of the AP Spanish Language and Culture course
Investigate different cultural connections between the Spanish-speaking world and their community based on the themes of the AP Spanish Language and Culture course
