Students will master the vocabulary of the arts and the grammatical "mood" of hypotheticals and courtesy.
Vocabulary (Contextos): They will know the terminology for visual arts (el óleo, la acuarela, la vanguardia), performing arts (el escenario, la reseña, la obra de teatro), and literature (el género, el argumento, el clímax).
Cultural Products: They will learn about the major artistic movements of the Spanish-speaking world (Muralism, Surrealism, Realism) and iconic artists like Frida Kahlo or Diego Rivera.
Grammar (Estructura):
The Conditional: Expressing what they would do (Pintaría un cuadro).
The Conditional Perfect: Discussing actions that would have occurred (Habría ido al festival).
Students will act as both creators and critics, using high-level Spanish to evaluate abstract concepts.
Interpretive: They will analyze museum descriptions and art reviews. In the "Adelante" section, they will interpret the complex social and personal symbolism in poems like "A Julia de Burgos" or works by García Márquez.
Interpersonal: They will engage in a "Gallery Walk" where they debate the meaning of different paintings and negotiate which art pieces a museum should buy using Conditional statements.
Presentational: They will write a formal review of a fictional or real artistic performance, describing the atmosphere and the emotional impact.
Phonetic: They will master "g" and "j" (Ortografía), focusing on the tricky spelling of words like dirigir, proteger, tejer, and extranjero.
