Lesson Objective

SWBAT identify specific body parts and physical actions (stretching, breathing, posing) mentioned during the yoga session.

SWBAT recognize and use expressions of physical state, such as feeling tired, relaxed, or sore.

SWBAT follow and give physical commands using the imperative or nosotros forms as modeled in the video.

¿De qué manera el ejercicio físico ayuda a manejar el estrés de la vida diaria? (In what way does physical exercise help manage the stress of daily life?)

¿Qué vocabulario es esencial para seguir instrucciones en una clase de gimnasia o yoga? (What vocabulary is essential for following instructions in a gym or yoga class?)

¿Cómo expresan los personajes su progreso o sus dificultades físicas durante la clase? (How do the characters express their progress or physical difficulties during the class?)

1.2 Interpretive: Students listen for specific verbs of motion and body parts to verify comprehension of the yoga sequence.

1.1 Interpersonal: Students discuss their own preferred ways to "desconectarse" (unplug) and stay healthy.

2.1 Cultures: Comparing the popularity of "wellness culture" and yoga in Spanish-speaking urban centers versus the students' own community.

Lesson Description: In this episode, the characters participate in a yoga class to manage stress and improve their physical well-being. The dialogue focuses on physical sensations (me duele..., me siento...) and following the instructor's guidance. It bridges the gap between the static vocabulary of "body parts" and the active vocabulary of "movement and health." Students will watch the video to observe how body language and verbal cues work together in a wellness setting.

Purpose: The purpose of "La clase de yoga" is Contextualized Wellness. It teaches students how to talk about physical health in a social, active environment. By shifting the focus to yoga, the lesson emphasizes that "bienestar" includes mental clarity and stress reduction, not just the absence of illness. It also serves as a practical review of the command forms in a natural, non-academic setting.

DOK Levels (Depth of Knowledge)
Level 1: Recall --> Identify & Label --> Students list the body parts mentioned by the instructor (e.g., la espalda, los brazos, las piernas).

Level 2: Skill/Concept --> Summarize & Explain --> Students explain why the characters decided to take the class and summarize how they felt before vs. after the session.

Level 3: Strategic Thinking --> Assess & Critique --> Students analyze the instructor's advice and determine which "poses" or "tips" would be most helpful for a student suffering from school-related stress.

Support (Scaffolding): Provide a "Yoga Cheat Sheet" with pictures of poses matched to Spanish verbs (estirarse, respirar, doblar).

Extension (Challenge): Have students write a "Review" of the class from the perspective of one of the characters, using the Present Perfect (He aprendido mucho hoy...) to talk about their experience.

Visual/Kinesthetic: "Total Physical Response" (TPR): While watching the video, students physically perform the stretches mentioned by the instructor to reinforce the connection between the word and the action.
