Students will be able to justify the selection of a Meriden historical figure based on established criteria for "Historical Significance."
What makes a person "historically significant"? Whose stories have been left out?

Students pitch potential figures and finalize their choice. Purpose: Defining the scope of individual research. DOK Level: 3.
Interest-Based Menu. Provide a "Menu of Figures" categorized by field (Sports, Arts, Labor) for students who are unsure where to start.
A "Project Proposal" outlining the chosen figure and why they deserve study.
