This course is designed to prepare the student for continuing education and post-secondary studies. World History Academic will concentrate on selected aspects of global history while incorporating the skills of the 21st Century. It is a survey of world history from the Middle Ages to modern day. Students will examine the world in the context of time and place. During each historical period, the focus will be on vital political, economic, geographic, and cultural themes. Students will study the manner in which man has provided for his common needs, the contributions of all peoples to civilization, and the interdependence of people all over the world. Technology, maps, historical events, interpretations, and biographies will guide their experiences. This course is for grade 9 students.
