Lesson Objective
Students will be able to determine the sequence of impacts and the direction of force in broken glass fragments.
Can broken glass tell us which direction a burglar entered a building?
HS-PS2-1: Analyze data to support Newton’s second law (impact and force).
Math (Geometry). Using the 3R rule (Radial cracks, Right angles, Rear side) to determine force direction.
Analyzing fracture patterns (concentric and radial) and calculating glass density using the flotation method.
